Whale Tale is a Nashville-based production company founded by award-winning director Wales Toney. Toney has established himself as one of the emerging creative voices in country music, directing cinematic, story-driven work for artists including Ella Langley, Riley Green, Koe Wetzel, Max McNown, Corey Kent, Muscadine Bloodline, and more. His work spans music videos, branded content, live performance, documentary, and short-form content.

Raised in South Carolina, Toney draws heavily from his Southern upbringing, bringing a distinctly Americana, down-home sensibility to his work. His work with Ella Langley and Riley Green earned both CMA and ACM Music Video of the Year honors in 2025.

Before filmmaking, Toney was a scholarship baseball player at Clemson University, where injuries ultimately changed the trajectory of his career. What began as picking up a camera and creating videos with friends became an entirely new pursuit. Today, Whale Tale brings together directors, producers, cinematographers, photographers, editors, and creatives to build visual worlds around artists and brands.
